Visual artist Petr Vrána was within the first representatives of German video-art even in the „good old eighties“. Since 1986 he was awarded many times, his clips went on TV from America to Africa. In those times there was only animation on film material. His VIDOX method enabled the transformation of video into moving paintings, a revolutionary method. Even the famous Billy Wilder liked VIDOX immediately, met Petr Vrána in Hollywood an allowed him to use parts of his movie with Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine.
In 1989 he co-operated on a HDTV project “The Orchestra” with Zbig Rybczynski in New York. He was the creative director in TV in Germany, Hong Kong and USA. With musician Jan Hammer they developed the audiovisual design for TV Nova. As the receiver of many international awards, he was invited as professor to university in Kassel, he hosted on other universities incl. FAMU in Prague. As a juror he cooperates with many festivals like World Summit Award. Within his artistic achievements is not only visual art and painting, but also acting in “7 servants” with Anthony Quinn. In 2009 he was introduced by IMAI (Inter Media Arts Institute in Cologne) within „Highlights from 35 years of history of videoarts“.
